It found us.
Covid.
Evil has turned its ugly head in our direction and left Charlie and I with the dreaded disease. We tested positive (for the first time ever) on December 11th.
What’s been interesting (and when your head is swimming with germs, it’s important to find something to focus on), is how different it’s affected each of us. Charlie had fever for a few days. I never did. Mine started with a sore throat. His didn’t start that way. I can now sleep at the drop of a hat. He’s having more chest congestion whereas mine is mostly in my sinuses.
We are doing “okay” – whatever that means in this whirlwind of constant symptom changes from day to day, but I do believe we’re on the road to improvement. Today is technically Day Nine.
I missed my last of the year event (I was sick on the 9th, but didn’t know it was officially Covid), but now I’m grateful for not having pushed through. We’ve been in hiding since last week and will continue to do so until it’s safe to go about our regularly scheduled programming. (the doctor’s office said that after 10 days, we can ‘carry on’ if we feel up to it. I, personally, would like to test negative before ‘carrying on’, but that’s just me. I would rather err on the side of caution).
I think I know why Covid is still ‘a thing’ these days. We went to a concert in Chicago on December 3. By December 5, Charlie wasn’t feeling great. Not sick, but not normal. By December 6, I joined that feeling. We tested on the 11th. People are walking around with Covid and are 1)not even aware that they are sick, 2) have been told that after 10 days, to just carry on and not to worry about testing negative at that point, or 3) know that they are sick but don’t care about spreading germs far and wide.
I don’t have an answer, but I don’t plan on meeting up with friends or ‘carrying on’ until I see a negative test. If that means hiding for another week or whatever, fine. I wouldn’t want to knowingly give this to anyone else.
So, next time, I’ll post about what we’ve been watching (I’ll pick and choose as it’s been a LOT! LOL). But for now, let’s all take it easy.
Stay healthy out there.
