Friends on our deck a few evenings ago.
The dog days of summer?
I think it’s more the raccoon days of summer. As I mentioned in other updates, we occasionally put food out for the feral kitties who wander into our backyard. Over the past year though, we’ve seen skunks, possums, groundhogs, squirrels, bunnies, chipmunks, a fox, and these adorable nuggets. We never know exactly who will be on the deck when we peek out from behind the curtains. π
I’ve finished Draft #3 and Charlie is currently reading all the stories (there’s 15). I plan start Draft #4 in mid-to-late August. I’m feeling really good about the short stories in this one and I’m excited for people to read them. These are horror, but there’s a definite sci-fi/apocalyptic vibe that runs through a number of them.
I hoping to re-organize the author Meet & Greets later this year. I understand that there’s quite a bit of scrolling that takes place when someone is looking for a particular author, so I’m going to break the categories up even further. For example, instead of Authors A-F, G-L, M-R, S-Z, the groups will be smaller. (example: A – C, D – F) I think it will make things a little less cumbersome. I also am thinking about other possible changes to the blog, just to keep things fresh and updated. Keep an eyeball out for more on that!
Charlie and I went to Winnetka, Illinois recently and had a great time visiting family. We’ll be up in the area again for the next event (Harvest Craft and Vendor Show in Bartlett, Illinois on August 23 and 24). After that, I’ve got two events in September that require the dreaded tent and sandbags (please don’t let it be windy or too hot! LOL)
As for what we’ve been watching?
Sopranos – Yep, we’ve been rocking the episodes out like crazy. It’s been 25 years since it first aired. We did watch it early on, probably around 2007 or ’08, so it’s been a bit. I’d forgotten so much of it, it’s like seeing it for the first time (almost). What a show. Up there with Breaking Bad, for sure. If you haven’t seen it OR haven’t watched it in a while, do yourself a solid and check it out (again).
America’s Got Talent – Yeah…kind of a guilty pleasure. Good things: some of the acts, Howie Mandel’s sense of humor and honesty. Bad/annoying things: breakaways to get audience reactions, Terry Crews (he’s o-k…but just stop with the camera mugging), passing acts that are ridiculous.
Short one today, people. Keep cool when those around you are sweatin’. π
