Bloggy Update 6/27

Posted by

Rage, the novel, is simmering over on a corner of my desk. It’s too soon to go back and start the third revision. That’ll happen sometime in July or August – when the time is right.

While I wait, I’ve been considering an idea for another book. This one would be completely different than anything I’ve written, but I haven’t convinced myself that I’m actually going to do it. It would be a NON-fiction book about my experiences with the Human Library (https://humanlibrary.org/).

Like I said, it’s totally outside of the suspense/horror wheelhouse, but I’ve felt a bit compelled to go in a different direction. Yes, I still love suspense and horror-y things, but I feel there’s a story here. Something I need to share with more than the groups who have sat at the tables of my sessions of the Human Library (at ISU and IWU). I wouldn’t start writing it this year – probably through a Nano like all the others have been – but I’m undecided.

On another tangent, I believe I’ve made the decision on retiring. Just between you and me, my goal date is April 1, 2021. This will put me at ISU for 30 years. I’ve not signed papers or filled out forms yet, but it’s coming. I’m thinking that once the calendar turns to July 1 (of this year), it’ll be like my senior year for the next nine months. Another chance at Prom? Hmmm.

Other than that – PLEASE check out the other sections of the blog when you have a chance. There’s some great interviews happening in the Meet & Greet, Spotlight, and Flipside. And, it should go without saying, but I’m saying it anyway – consider purchasing one (or more) of my books (there’s FIVE to choose from). It’s a great way to pass the time during quarantine (or any other time).

Thanks for reading!

Sue

    1. It IS very exciting. It’s pretty much all I can think about! LOL. And yes, a non-fiction book would be something very different for me, but I believe it’s time.

  1. Retirement in less than a year – just think of everything you could write! I admire you for considering nonfiction – don’t think I have it in me to do it. Making up things is more fun for me, lol.

    1. I know! đŸ™‚ Yeah, I’m still considering the non-fiction thing. I’ll see. No solid commitments yet. I keep going back and forth on the retirement date too – either April 1 or July 1. The difference being $60 a month more (or less).
