Bloggy Update 8/10/21

First things first!

I want to welcome all the new followers to the blog! Thanks SO much for clicking that button and hopping on! When I have them, I post a NEW Meet & Greet (author interview) each Monday. I also post a new Spotlight (artist interview) and Flipside (musician interview) when I have them. Those are harder to come by so I don’t have a designated schedule. (so if you know any artists/musicians, send them my way! I’d love to feature them)

I signed up for another two month round of NetGalley promotions. Rage (my newest book) has 11 reviews from it, although, unfortunately, they don’t automatically transfer to Amazon. Some of you may already know that, but it was new to me. NetGalley looks to be a decent place to get the word out about a new book, but without the “deals” that I’m getting from Books Go Social, it seems a pretty expensive venture. What’s YOUR experience?

I also recently signed on to AllAuthor, another book platform. I’m doing the FREE portion right now, as I can’t pay for countless promo sites at once. I’m not sure if that’s going to help, but again, any additional places to get the word out, certainly can’t hurt.

The next EVENT for me is Printer’s Row – Chicago! This year, it’s going to be on September 11 and 12 (later than the normal June dates from past years). I’ll be under the Chicago Writers Association Tent on Saturday, September 11 from 3pm to 6pm, so if you’re in the area, pop by and say “hey!” I’ll post more specifics in the EVENTS/PROMOTION section of the blog as it gets closer.

We’ve been watching Orphan Black (the series) as of late. I have mixed feelings – some of the story lines are great. Others – a little too sci-fi/technical for my personal liking. Overall, it’s a quality show with good acting and interesting plot lines. If you like Sci/Fi stuff, you might very well dig this.

We’ve also watched Minding The Gap (2018), a documentary about skateboarders. I gave it a 6/10. I was kind of annoyed by most of the people in the film, and not in a good way. It’s a slice-of-life movie, to be sure, but it rubbed me the wrong way in general.

Thanks for reading and check back again soon! 🙂

  2. I’m not familiar with All Author or Books Go Social, so I’ll have to check those out. Orphan Black is a show I’ve always wanted to watch, but never got around to it. It’s been on the list for a while – my very long list. Same as my book list, lol. Hope you have a great time in Chicago!

    1. We just finished Orphan Black. It’s 5 seasons long, and while I personally thought it could have been “told” in 3 seasons, it’s still pretty good. More sci-fi-ish than suspense. Looking forward to Chicago (unless things get too ugly here in Illinois 😦 – covid-wise.)
