Bloggy Update 9/14/21

Kidney stones.

Yep. In my continuously epic battle with the nuggets of evil, I ended up in the ER last week. This was bout number #14 or #15 (I’ve lost count to be honest. Been dealing with them on and off since 2006). Once they hit and all the aftermath that follows, I’m kind of out of the game for a little while. I’m cautiously okay at the moment, but who knows when they’ll rear their ugly heads again. And yes, it’s only a matter of when and not IF.

I believe I mentioned that I sold my Printer’s Row spot that was to take place on September 11th. It’s actually just as well since I doubt I would have been in much of a condition to lug boxes/books through the streets of Chicago. However, I’m looking VERY forward to my next event, which will be a first for me. It’s the Dark History/Horror Convention (Champaign, Illinois)! It will be on Saturday, October 23, from 11am to 8pm. I think they’re doing something on Friday as well, but I’ll just be there on Saturday. I’ll be posting more about it in the Events/Promotions section of the blog if you’re interested in the details and links.

I haven’t done any writing since Rage came out, but I’ve been thinking about Nano again. And maybe a short story or two. I feel like I haven’t had much quiet/down time to get my thoughts together as of late, and that’s usually when I get my ideas. I know there’s no set schedule or rush or anything at all – I’m placing the “writing stress” on myself – but I DO want to spend time creating, and for that, I realize that I have to MAKE the time.

I ordered some NEW SWAG! I’ve got pads with my Plump Toad Press logo! Each one has 25 sheets! I think they’re pretty cool 🙂

May be an image of book and text that says 'PLUMP PLMP TOAD PRESS suerovens.com'

Okay, that’s it for now! Pop on over to the Meet & Greet section if you haven’t lately. I’ve had some wonderful author interviews for a number of Mondays in a row as of late. And I am ALWAYS on the lookout for artists and music folks to interview for the Spotlight / Flipside segments as well. Email me, folks! (srovens@yahoo.com)

  1. I’m so sorry to hear about the kidney stones, Sue. i had idea you’ve been plagued by them. I had one once in my life and it was one time too many. The pain was excruciating. I hope they don’t come back again for you.

Love the plump toad pads. Those are really cool!

    1. Thank you. Yeah, it’s a very specific feeling – like no other! They’ve been behaving themselves the past couple days now, so I can actually focus on other things – like promoting my swag. 🙂
