Bloggy Updates 4/11

Posted by

I’d like to say I’ve been napping since the last Bloggy Update, but that’s hardly the case. As you might know, we are in the midst of moving. Although we are not going far (from our house in Normal to another just a little over a mile and a half away, still in Normal), the process is still pretty daunting.

Personally, I’ve bought and sold 5 houses in my adult life. However, I/we’ve been in our current house for 12.5 years, the longest I’ve ever lived in any home…EVER. So, when I stand in the living room and think “what gets boxed first?”, there’s an overwhelming sensation of “everything must be done NOW” and instantly I get the urge to lay on the couch with Noodle and Monkey and hide among the softness until Charlie gets home. 🙂

Barrington Area Author Fair was really nice. Met some very groovy folks, some of whom you’ll be “meeting” over in the Author Meet & Greet Pages! (today is the first one! check it out!)

The next big event that I’ll be doing is the J. Jill in-store meet and greet. Hop on over to the Events section on the blog for more details. It’ll be another first for me, as I can’t say I’ve ever sold books (or done readings) in a clothing store. So, let’s do it 🙂

On the heels of that one, the following weekend, (May 4 and May 5), I’ll be at Duncan Manor for their Derby Days. If you are in the area, you really should visit this place. It was built in the 1800’s and the owners (Randi and David Howell) are restoring this home to it’s “original” glory. A ton of work has gone into this place and it’s well worth the drive/time/effort to see it. Again, keep an eyeball peeled to the Events Section as that weekend gets closer.

And then there’s Buried.

Have I said it’s close? Well, it is. The cover is done. All that’s left is the absolute final read through of the interior (which is also done). Once I finish that, I pay Tami Boyce (an incredible artist who designed the cover and did the interior) and I send the manuscript/cover to KDP and order the first test copy of the book. Once I get that in my hands (and make sure the printed run is good – which it has always been with my other books), then it’s go time.

So, what’s the actual time frame? We’re probably looking at the end of April/early May. In the grander scheme of novels and publishing…that’s really, really soon.

Ideally, I’d love to have Buried ready to sell at Duncan Manor, but a more realistic timeline will most likely be Steampunk (June 7, 8, and 9). We ARE moving, you know! LOL!

Thanks for reading! And don’t forget to pass the blog along to your friends!
