Ramping up.
Isn’t that what January, not to mention a whole new decade, is all about? The gym I go to is a LOT busier than it was a few weeks ago. The students are back at ISU (where I work), so that means that stores, streets, and restaurants are packed and lines are longer. Resolutions have been made (and perhaps already broken).
It’s kind of like springtime, but darker and colder.
I feel it, too. I’ve been setting up some book events to attend and trying to encourage some folks to be part of the interviews here on the blog. I’ve also had a few preliminary thought about novel #4 – Rage – the first draft that was born out of NaNoWriMo last November (2019). I’m not ready to delve into that yet – not in any committed way. As I stated in other bloggy updates, I’ll “know” when I’m ready. If the past is any indication, the urge should hit around the end of February/early March.
Re-inventing yourself, or in this case, the blog, has also crossed my mind. I’ve recently added the Author Index – a list of everyone that has been part of the Meet & Greet as well as their genre. Hopefully, that will make life a little easier for someone who, let’s say, is looking for a romance author. Scrolling down a one-page list takes less time than having to peruse four separate sections. I plan on doing the same (creating an index) for the Spotlight folks and the Flip Side folks as well.
I’ve also been thinking a LOT about retiring. I’ll have my 30 years in as of July 2021. Sure, it’s still 542 days away, but who’s counting? There’s still quite a bit to process and figure out before then, but the wheels have begun to turn and it’s pretty exciting.
What about you? What NEW things are on your 2020 horizon? (Oh, and has anyone seen Orange is the New Black? I’d love to chat about that. We’re in the final season on Netflix and I have opinions!)
Thanks for reading!
Sue
Lucky you getting those 30 years in! I still have at least four to go to retirement, but I look forward to the day of writing full time. What joy!
I haven’t seen Orange is the New Black, but I know it was highly successful and popular.
Wishing you all the best as you work on the draft from your NaNo project. I had to ditch mine (it was that bad), but I have returned to an earlier WIP and am now working on that. I really need to buckle down and concentrate!

I know! Nothing is set yet, but just the fact that it can “officially” be on my radar is something big! I don’t know if I’ll spend all of my free time writing, although that would most likely be a part of it. There’s a number of things that I’ve been interested in that I never seemed to “have the time” to really get into – I’m hoping to see some of them through after I retire. 🙂

I know what you mean about crowded gyms after New Year’s Day. That awesome you could retire next year, Sue. I’m with Mae – it would be wonderful to write full time. Have a great weekend!

Thanks so much, Teri! Lots of things have to fall into place first, but we are hoping for it to happen. One thing I would be interested in doing after I retire (beside for writing), is to do something with animals. Not sure what, but that’s on the “list”. 🙂
